Ever since I was a little girl, I've been chasing the dream of flight. I would spend hours gazing at birds soaring through the sky, my heart filled with a simple wish – to know what it felt like to fly. That dream led me on an extraordinary journey that would eventually become Aerial Foundations.
I sought flight wherever I could find it – scaling the highest tree branches, leaping through figure skating routines, and dancing through the air. Even in white water kayaking, I cherished those weightless moments soaring over rocks. When I first witnessed Cirque du Soleil's aerial silk artists, something resonated deep within me. I knew I had found my calling, even if the path wasn't yet clear.
Sometimes, life's greatest gifts come from unexpected places. For me, it was a stress fracture in my L3 vertebrae that led me to aerial arts. While searching for relief from persistent back pain, I discovered the aerial trapeze. That first inversion in my bedroom doorway wasn't just a moment of physical therapy – it was the beginning of a transformation.
The real magic began when my partner built me a rig in my backyard. Under the open sky, I finally found my wings. Night after night, I explored, played, and stretched, watching as aerial arts not only healed my body but enhanced every aspect of my athletic life.
From Dreamer to Aerial Artist: My Story
But my journey revealed a gap in the aerial arts teaching – a need for accessible, comprehensive online training that prioritized safety and proper progression. Drawing from my diverse background in figure skating, dance, physical fitness, and bodywork, combined with my deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, I developed a unique teaching approach.
My students know me for one word: "activation." It's become our mantra, the key that unlocks proper form and faster progression. Their success stories and enthusiasm inspired me to create Aerial Foundations, a program designed to help others discover their own potential in aerial arts.
Today, when I'm suspended in my silk, I'm not just teaching – I'm living that little girl's dream of flight. And nothing brings me more joy than helping others discover their wings.
Whether you're taking your first steps into aerial arts or looking to advance your practice, I'm here to guide you through a journey that's as safe as it is transformative. Together, we'll turn those dreams of flying into reality.
